The Fawn response—often described as the instinct to appease or please in the face of threat—is a lesser studied but wise and effective survival strategy that can become embedded in a client’s somatic and relational patterns. This workshop explores how the Fawn response shows up in the body, emotions, and relationships, and how to recognize, work with, and unwind it through the lens of Somatic Experiencing® (SE™). Participants will deepen their capacity to track appeasement behaviors, work with the physiology of compliance, and support the emergence of authentic expression, healthy boundaries, and a more regulated nervous system.
This Short Program will be recorded and distributed to registrants approximately 2 weeks following the event.
This Short Program includes a demonstration. Students working towards their SEP™ who fully attend live will be eligible to receive 1/2 a Case Consultation Credit.

This is a time for Somatic Experiencing students in the Beginning Year to explore their understanding and application of concepts and skills that they have been learning in the training thus far. We will co-create a supportive and collaborative environment where we can learn from each other and celebrate the good SE that you are already doing. You are welcome to bring a case, curiosity, and/or your active listening and engagement.
These group case consults are 3 hours. 3-hour group consultation sessions = 1 credit towards Case Consultation requirements.

Dr. Cacky Mellor, Ph.D. (she/they) is an ISMETA certified Master Somatic Movement Therapist & Education, SEP, and DARe approved provider. She has over 15 years of experience facilitating somatics, holistic psychology, and energy medicine, including teaching these subjects to undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. Dr. Cacky draws on all of this experience to meet the unique and evolving needs of those they have the privilege to support in private practice. She loves incorporating SE and DARe into the group facilitation and collaborative learning environment.
Dr. Cacky has a remote private practice, Somatic Reclamation, where she sees clients all over the world supporting trauma healing and integration and fostering greater access to secure attachment in relationship. It is one of her greatest joys in life to hold space for individuals’ innate healing intelligence and the transformation that can bring!
Dr. Cacky is a queer, white-bodied person that lives with chronic illness.
She is deeply passionate about social justice, the arts, intergenerational trauma, and somatics.
Dr. Cacky lives in the Boston area with their beloved partner and cat.

Honoring our commitment to serving the needs of those who have, to date, been under-represented in the SE community, Somatic Experiencing International is launching its first BIPOC (Indigenous, Black and otherwise identified People of Color) cohorts.
While representing a wide range of cultures and experiences, this cohort will provide the opportunity to learn SE to an international audience of practitioners dedicated to supporting their marginalized communities in healing from the damaging effects of trauma. Students will be able to learn the SE skills and framework within the safe environment of a BIPOC training team and participants and explore how the skills are applicable to their communities.
We will be covering the standard SE curriculum while recognizing how issues of racism and historical oppression impact our experiences of traumatic events. We will also explore how culture and connection to culture helps to heal trauma.
